Fergus Lyons receives the first prize
television from CHI Trustee Michael Ridgeway
Child Health International and the Winchester Fire Brigate organized a
Duck Race on the River Itchen in Winchester on September 27th,
2009. The race began at the upper bridge in Water Lane near
Durngate, and ended below the water mill on the stretch behind Chesil
Street (Town Ducks).
The race was started by the 810th Mayor of Winchester: Cllr Dominic Hiscock. The sun shone brightly, and many people turned out to enjoy the spectacle. This fun race, enjoyed by all, raised more than £1700 for The Fire Fighters Charity and Child Health International (helping children with cystic fibrosis overseas). Fergus Lyons , winner of the first prize 26” HD ready TV said: "It was great to be able to support two charities in this way and even better to win first prize!"
